Coastal Clean Up: Chek Jawa

Spend a morning at Chek Jawa, Singapore’s precious wetlands off the northeastern island of Pulau Ubin!

We’ve all seen reports and photos of the devastation of marine litter and its disgusting impact on the environment. If you’re unconvinced or want to see it (and the beautiful mudflats early in the morning) firsthand, join us in our effort to make a stretch of the coast a little bit more litter-free. And we’re partnering the International Coastal Cleanup Singapore team for our first clean up event!

We’re not saying we’ll be able to rid the earth of our human trash, but every helping hand counts. And it’ll help even more if we can change the way we think about consumption and our place in the environment.

Pulau Ubin’s got a variety of activities for everyone, so make the most out of your trip to the island and plan some lunch, fun, and exploration after the clean up! We’ll end at around 10am.

WHO CAN COME
All are welcome to be part of the green team! 🙂

Changi Point Ferry Terminal (Changi Jetty Point)

MEETING TIME AT FERRY TERMINAL
7:30am (please arrive on time, we must catch the low tides!)

DIRECTIONS
We’ll take a 20-min bum boat ride out to Pulau Ubin, and when we hit the shore, we’ll hop on a van to Punai Hut, then walk for a bit to reach our worksite at Chek Jawa North 2. Since a bum boat and a van can only hold 12 people each at any one time, we might travel in batches if we’re a big group!

• Lots of water to stay hydrated!
• SGD 10 (two-way ferry $6 + van ride $4)
• Insect repellent. MUST!
• Sun protection i.e. cap/hat, sunglasses, long sleeves/pants
