Hari Raya Mediterranean Feast at Fill-a-Pita

We invite you to join us at Fill-A-Pita on the 16th of July 2016 , 11.30 A.M for mouth-watering vegetarian Mediterranean food.

This Hari Raya, the owner of Fill-A-Pita, Hassan El Nahas, will be bringing you vegetarian Mediterranean cuisine that will be nothing short of a feast! Fill-A-Pita will be decorated with traditional Hari Raya decorations to draw in the spirit of this important festival.

Hari Raya Aidilfitri/ Eid al-Fitr/Hari Raya Buka Puasa are some of the few names that are used across the world to signify this important day. Just before Hari Raya, Muslims partake in dawn to sunset fast for the holy month of Ramadan in which they focus on prayers, fasting and giving to charity. Hari Raya Aidilfitri is an important day in the Muslim calendar as, it marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Hari Raya feasts are usually meat centric.
In contrast, Fill-A-Pita will be serving up Mediterranean food that is vegan, tasty, and good for the environment.

The food at Fill-A-Pita is healthy as well as they adhere to certain rules:
(a) Everything is made on-site except for the wholemeal pita (that is delivered to the shop at 11:30 AM daily),
(b) Canned ingredients and preservatives are avoided as much as possible,
(c) Less additives are used such as lesser salt, no msg, and less brown sugar in drinks.

Besides savouring full flavoured vegan Mediterranean food, this meetup will present the opportunity to learn more about Mediterranean food as well. We will be gathering to learn more about Hari Raya in Egypt through Hassan’s stories about food and his experiences. Plus, this is an exciting opportunity to meet other vegetarian enthusiasts around Singapore while we feast on an authentic Mediterranean spread of food.

This tailored platter will consist of:
1) Falafel (chickpeas blended with herbs and spices and baked to a crispy exterior).
2) Hummus (a dip made of mashed chickpeas in choice of two flavors, coriander or parsley)
3) Fava Beans (a cooked bean dish with a tomato sauce)
4) Cold Lentil Salad (brown lentils with chopped onion and green pepper in a vinaigrette dressing)
5) Warm Wholemeal Pita Bread (Free Flow)

To make this occasion even more joyous, Hassan has included some mouth-watering add-ons:
1) Baked Spinach Samosa ($3/ per piece)
2) Drinks ($2 each)
3) *Date Scones ($2.50/ per piece)
4) *Arabic Coffee ($4/ per cup)

*The Arabic coffee is served with brown sugar and there is an option to add plain soya milk. The date scones are vegan (eggless and without honey or milk)
