Have you ever felt frustrated seeing rubbish along the beach or mangrove as you kayak/walk by the coast?

Always wanted to play a part in reducing marine trash in the Ocean but don’t know how to?

Here’s a great chance for you!

Join Ministry Of Adventure as we take part in this year’s International Coastal Cleanup, Singapore (ICCS)!

The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is an annual event conducted in 70-100 countries, coordinated by the US-based agency, The Ocean Conservancy, a non-profit organisation.

The programme aims to remove and collect data on the debris from the shorelines, waterways and beaches of the world’s lakes, rivers and oceans. This information serves to educate the public on marine debris issues and to encourage positive change by submissions to governmental and international organisations that will reduce debris in waterways and enhance aquatic environments!

This year, MOA is also taking part in ICCS by volunteering to be an organiser, just so that everyone can have a chance to play a part to our marine environment! Having seen the amount of rubbish either washed ashore or thrown along the coastline while kayaking ourselves, it is always frustrating knowing the mangroves or beaches will do a lot better without them. Yet, it is always hard to prevent trash to accumulate everyday.

With ICCS, it’s not just the environment we are helping, but also the animals that rely on it! There are in fact, many amazing animals which most of us have unheard of that are greatly affected by the marine trash on the daily basis in Singapore!

We will be cleaning up Lim Chu Kang East Mangrove this year for a start! Mangrove is a highly sensitive environment with lots of wildlife such as mudskipper and tree climbing crab! However, mangroves in Singapore are getting lesser due to urban developing. So, come join us to play a part in helping the mangroves and also collecting the data to conserve the marine environment!

We are going to do it in group of 3! So get your friends and have a meaningful Saturday morning! Each group includes these 3 roles (Trash collector, Trash bag holder and data recorder)

Do not worry if you do not have 2 other people to join with you, we will get you paired up!
