Join Beng Tang on a guided walk of Bukit Brown cemetery and learn more about the edible fruits and vegetables that you can find there.
During the Japanese occupation of Singapore, the Japanese kept the rice to feed their armies so the civilians of Singapore survived on tapioca, sweet potato and yam. Come on a tour of Bukit Brown to see some of these plants and others that can be eaten.
Meet at junction of Kheam Hock Road and access road to Bukit Brown Blocks 1, 3, 4 at 9am.
- Wear covered shoes, no sandals. Long pants preferable.
- Bring your own water bottle
- Be prepared for rain and mosquitoes
- Bring: Water bottle (essential), insect repellent, rain coat / umbrella, plastic bag for plants, note book and pen (optional)
There are no toilets there. The walk will take approximately 3 hours to complete. It involves walking about 3km through the cemetery and forest paths.
