Buying Animal Products
If you are facing difficulties in eliminating your consumption of animal products, you can still reduce some harm as a welfarist and choose products that come from countries that have a higher standard of animal welfare.
World Animal Protection has ranked 50 countries on its index. Note that the highest ranking does not indicate that all animals in that country face no cruelty whatsoever; read the methodology here for more information.
These are the highest ranked countries. We have added some links to show some of the practices that are still happening in those countries so that the rankings do not mislead you to think the animals are treated well.
According to the World Wildlife Fund ³, 3 out of 4 common fish species consumed in Singapore are not sustainably caught.
